Please stop by Wives of Faith where I’ve posted an urgent prayer request regarding my friends, T & K. This isn’t a military thing, this is a life thing. My friends are in jeopardy of loosing two of their adopted babies. Please go read my take on it, stop by their website and comfort them with tender words.

Our life is so hectic right now that I’ve actually had to send an invitation to my google calendar to The Husband so he can keep up with what’s happening and when. In keeping with our busy lifestyle, I’ve been reworking recipes so they can be thrown together ahead of time and stored, or something quick.
Tonight is going to be part two of the Can Whiskey Cook with a Crock Pot Fiasco. You see, I’m not fond of my crock pot. We’ve been mortal enemies for years. To put an end to the nonsense, last week I threw a ham in the crock pot before heading to work only to find a burnt, dry, bacon tasting hunk of nastiness when I got home. It was practically inedible.
I put the crock pot in time-out to recoup my sanity. That leaves me to roast smaller pieces of meat in the oven. I’d planned on making Ina Garten’s French String Beans, but it wasn’t working out for me in the time department and the oven was occupied. I used the same ingredients, adding just soy sauce and a little garlic to compliment the flavors I used in the pork roast. Instead of boiling, cooling, roasting, tossing… I stir fried and it was delicious!
French String Beans
Delta Whiskey’s quickie on Ina Garten’s Beans
1 lb French string beans (hmm. not sure that mine were French)
Kosher salt
Pepper
1/2 of a large red onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, cut in long strips
1/2 green bell pepper, cut into strips
Vegetable oil
Pinch of Red Pepper Flakes
Heat about 2 T oil and a pinch of red pepper flakes in a Wok over medium heat. Throw in onion, garlic, bell peppers and green beans. Stir fry, tossing every minute or so until green beans are tender-crisp. Once cooked, season with (little) salt and pepper then soy sauce until heated through.
Serve immediately.
We’ll see if the crock pot and I can make amends. I followed a recipe from the Queen of Crock Pots to make a turkey breast this morning. Hopefully it’ll be nice and turkey tasting tonight along with the Roasted Butternut Squash I’ll share with you tomorrow.

I am not a fan of my crock pot either. I love the stir fry take on the recipe!
I don’t even own a crock pot, they seem like a disaster waiting to happen. Your green beans look delicious. Mine are still in the fridge, I haven’t had much time to cook this week.
