For Christmas, The Mother-In-Law gave me the new Barefoot Contessa book. My normal mode of operation when getting a new cookbook is to pour over it with a pad of posties next to me marking pages of things I really want to make. The new book was so marked with orange posties I could hardly [...]  The purpose of The Husband taking this commissioning scholarship was to get him one step closer to being a fighter pilot. I asked the man 7 years ago what his life dream was… “I want to be a fighter pilot and fly A-10s.” “I will help you reach that dream.” I replied… You know that crazy girl in home-ec class that was constantly struggling with a project? That girl that was trying really hard to make her dish look like everyone else’s but also make it edible? That’s me. As a conservative republican wife of a military member, I can say I have mixed emotions about today. I’m excited to see history being made and hope that we can all start being simply Americans and not hyphenated Americans. I hope and pray that in today’s Inauguration we, as a country, are able to break down [...] Being told that my boyfriend had taken another woman to bed was exhilarating. I felt light as a bird, free to float to another relationship that would give me what I wanted in life. I needed a strong, independent self-sacrificing man who made me feel like a woman, not a babysitter. Of course, nothing that starts without [...] Every once in a while a chocolate loathing girl needs chocolate. Given the choice of chewy-fruity things, a bowl of salty something or chocolate… my last choice will always be chocolate. Perhaps sprinkle a little sea salt on a piece of dark chocolate… now that might do it for me. Strangely enough I love chocolate cake. [...] **not gluten free** Karen of Something Sweet by Karen chose Ina Garten’s Banana Sour Cream Pancakes as the very first recipe of 2009. My palms were sweaty as the realization hit. I have to make pancakes! Oh, it’s going to be a disaster! After all, we’ve been down this road before. “Cat!” my friend Jen screamed. Today, The Husband and I are celebrating six years of wedded bliss. Of course, with any marriage or relationship there were some funny moments, sad moments and downright crazy moments. |
